January 26th...
Had ClubHouse Sandwiches for supper...was really craving for that for some reason...threw one small turkey in the oven and hubs had a nice surprise for me...he actually baked my birthday cake...wow, miracles still do happen after all...on top of that, he also made jello...and house is sooo clean and he's still cleaning away...wow..wish I had birthdays every day...
I still miss my mother's phone call and her singing away...was half expecting a phone call from her this morning...
Also today, my sister is now officially a Ranger...our very own "Power Ranger"...and a Master Corporal at that...hmmm, wonder what that means???..she was sure chewing on her lip pretty good during the ceremony...lol..

January 25th..
Had a very interesting morning..I made 67 plates of breakfast and gave them out to ppl...Colin was my toast maker, so he's a professional at toastmaking now..lol...we had wanted to do this during Christmas break; but it was too buzy and time ran away on us...and I had a little bit of Christmas spirit left in me, so I did it this morning...now we both feel complete...so no more free meals till at the end of the year again..next time I make meals, I will sell them....have a good day and for those of youse that came to get breakfast, hope youse enjoyed it...
My mother taught us to bless people at times and not to think about money all the time..she used to say that we will still get our blessing, if we do it from our hearts...she used to say to show our love to the ppl...even though, I have my own shortcomings, I still try and do what my late mother taught me..she taught me lot of things and I try and do them sometimes...not all the time; but at times...my mom used to have food on the table and when somebody walked in, she would offer tea or food..she would always be cooking...even when I was young, I still remember her cooking or baking; even during summer time...then she used to send us out to go deliver to the ppl...at times, the elders we used to go feed would give us candies...and that was a bonus for us...candies/treats were hard to come by during those days..
Anyways...ttyl..

January 24th...

Missing my mother and motherinlaw so much lately...so very, very much...for those of you that still have your mothers around, plz appreciate and love them..show and tell them that you love them 'cause once they are gone, they are gone..you will have that void inside you..that never-ending ache; that lump in your throat; that longing to see them, to hear their voice...even though, I know where they are today, I still miss them so much...

Well...today was kinda hectic at the office...it's always like that..keeps my mind occuppied...

Still waiting for Roy/Delilah to call...don't know how to get ahold of youse...really need to talk to youse about something...

January 16th..

Came by to post up 2011 Healing Journey Prayer Walk to Keewaywin that we did last year.

Colin has made the official announcement that 2012 Healing Journey Prayer Walk will take place on February 11, 2012. The starting point of the Walk will start again at the New Life Pentecostal Church here in Weagamow Lake. The meeting place will take place at 8:30 a.m. at the church. There will be a group prayer done.

This year the Walk will be done to Sandy Lake.

The main purpose of this prayer walk is to pray for ppl who are bond by prescription drugs and alcohol, among other social issues.  There are many things that can bind us.  It is for them to find the inner healing for themselves and other ppl, so that they can be whole again.  If you find it in  your heart that you want to join in for this walk, please do so.  Anybody is welcome regardless what situation you are in.  If you know and have loved ones who are in this state, you are welcome to join us.   As for ourselves, we are doing this for our loved ones who are in this situation.

***Will be back later to finish posting up***

2011 Healing Journey Prayer Walk Report

Our prayer walk to Keewaywin was completed and successful. We completed 140 kms in 27.5 hours. We, can all honestly say that, the walk itself was hard and challenging; but we managed to finish it. The last 40 kms was very hard, as all the walkers were tired, cold, hungry and needed some hot fluids. There was lots of laughter, crying, praying, singing and pure exhaustion; but we completed the walk with the help of prayers that were sent our way and with the help of our Lord and Saviour.

We started off the walk at 8:45 a.m. from New Life Church in Weagamow on February 25th. It got cold and the wind started picking up. When we were walking on Weagamow Lake, it was already very cold; and the wind was blowing from the side. When we got to the CrossRoad Junction, heading north; we had to face the North Wind; and the wind was biting cold. We kept on checking the walkers to see if they were all doing fine. We started rotating the walkers. One group would walk; then the other group rested and warmed up. I walked and finished about 2 kms of Weagamow Lake with my husband. We walked and prayed together. It wasn't an easy walk for me, as it was slippery and cold; but I kept on. We prayed for our community and loved ones.

Somewhere in the bush area, our lunch arrived. Emily Anishnawbe and Danny Kanakakeesic brought hot soup. Our sandwiches were already depleting fast; as we had many walkers and we needed strength. We stopped for a few minutes to eat; then the walkers started again. Shortly after that, we met the 3 Muskrat Dam people, Norah and Louie Beardy; along with Gary Beardy, Deputy Chief from Muskrat Dam. They, too, started walking.

When we got to Opahkopah Lake, I started walking again, to give others a break. Walked with Norah Beardy. I used my crutches to walk. Richard Kanate was driving right beside me. He kept encouraging me to keep on. It was getting harder for me to walk; but he kept on talking and encouraging. Finally, I told him that I couldn't do it anymore; so he stopped. By that time, the Band Council already had sent the Band Van for us to use.

When we got to Magiss Lake around 5ish, our other walker from Bearskin was already waiting for us in my sister's vehicle. My dad came with my sister and brought coffee with them. We had some hot fluids there. The other walkers from Weagamow were resting, so our fresh walker, Emily MaKoop started walking on Magiss Lake. Shortly after that, Geordie Kakekayash and his group pulled up; then Geordie started walking on the lake. That gave us a break.

We got to Nikip Lake at 7:10 p.m. Colin said that he was going to walk the whole 10 km stretch of ice, facing the cold wind. We had come about 60 kms already from home. He got dressed and started walking with Ronald Jeremiah. I drove right behind him to shine my car lights on their path, so they can see where they were going. The wind had been picking up already and Isiah Kanate told me to keep on eye on them. About almost half ways out on the lake, he turned around and looked at me. His facemask was all white, covered with ice and snow. You could barely see the holes where he can see from. The fur on his winter parka around his face was covered with ice. It was so cold, so very cold. I started crying when I saw him. I wanted to go out so much to relieve him; but I couldn't. I couldn't walk on ice, as at times, it was pure black ice and some areas were very slippery. At times, he almost went down as he would slip. I cried for him; but I couldn't do nothing. Some walkers were behind us, walking and the main walker, Richard Kanate, was already across the lake resting in the van. A couple times, I saw Jayda Welshman, our youngest walker, walking. One time I saw her, she was out on the ice. She was walking and crying at the same time; as she was so cold and tired; but she kept on.

We were getting so cold in the car, so I had to crank up the heat as it was -27 and with the wind chill, it was probably colder. Told the walkers in my car, to start resting; as it was gonna be a cold night. We were watching Colin and Ronald walk. At one time, Ronald was walking with bare hands. We started getting concerned with frost bites.

Then, Charles and Marjorie Benson, drove up with coffee. They told us to stay in one stop and to enjoy our coffee; while they drove behind Colin and Ronald. Apparently, Ronald switched with Charles because when I got behind Colin, Charles was walking with Colin.

I really thanked God for sending Charles and Marjorie as Colin needed hot fluids when he reached the other side of Nikip Lake. Colin walked the long stretch of 10 kms of slippery ice in two hours. I almost started crying when I saw him in the truck. Richard was helping him out; and he had the truck all warmed up for him.

So the other walkers took over. When we got to PetweNikip at 9:47 p.m., I started walking with Maria, Maggie and Evelyn. I walked about another 2 kms on the ice; but I had been walking on and off in the bush already. That was it; I couldn't do it anymore. The ladies were praying as they were walking; and that gave me the strength. We were already walking in relays. Isiah Kanate was at the front, keeping an eye on the walkers. When they finished a portion; he'd report back to me. Once that portion was done, we'd pick up the walkers and take them to the front. The whole 140 kms of ice and bush road was prayed for. Not a single area was missed.

At around 11:00 p.m., we finished PetweNikip and another load of walkers joined us from Weagamow. It was Peggy Benson and her group. They all got ready and our elder told us to keep together as we were heading into the long stretch of 40 kms of bush. He said not to leave anybody behind as it was dark and cold. They did another prayer circle while some of us rested; then they proceeded on their walk. Think they walked for two hours. Shortly after that, another walker showed up, Ernest Quequish. He started walking as soon as he got there and he got us to Keewaywin. That must've been around midnight or so when he arrived.

It was during that time, my sister came with coffee again; and shortly after that, Charles and Marjorie showed up again with three jugs of coffee. Coffee sure went pretty fast. We were starting to get hungry; as our sandwiches were already gone. We only had junk food, such as chips, gum and chocolate bars; so that's what we had.

Then Peggy and her group went back; so we were left alone again, but we kept on. Then another guy showed up from Keewaywin, Johnny Mamakeesic. He walked with the lead walkers for a bit; but he had to go as he was low on gas. Around in the middle of the bush, a couple more of the Keewaywin people showed up, Chis and Rodney Kakegamic brought hot soup. We all had hot soup. That tasted so good. Colin had a bowl; but he didn't stop walking. He drank the soup while he was walking. Then Pastor David Fiddler showed up from Keewaywin. He walked with Colin.

Around 4:30 a.m, about 40 kms from the community, I stopped my car. I picked up my husband, as he was so exhausted. I just started crying. Everybody was so cold and tired. Ernest and Richard kept on, walking. I couldn't walk, I was so cold, tired, hungry and in pain. We sat there, weeping and praying. We needed strength. Colin was shivering so much and I didn't want to open the door to go look for the blanket as it was in the back. His tshirt was so damp and he was just shivering. I really cranked up the heat and waved the others to go on. We sat and rested. I didn't have no hot fluids to give him. Just sat there and held his hand. I cried and cried. Couldn't do nothing. Covered him up with jackets as that was what I can only reach. I didn't dare open the car door as it was so cold. Finally, he got enough strength to go to our truck.

The drivers and walkers were all getting exhausted. Then at 7:45 a.m., we reached Sandy Lake. Everybody seemed to revived when we all got to the lake. Dinah started to take off, saying that was what she saw in her dream. It seemed like she got her second bout of energy when she saw the lake. Some of the walkers that were walking rested; while us, that had been driving or resting, started to walk I saw Ernest and his moustache looked like icicles; but he kept on walking,

Then at 9:05 a.m., we reached the Keewaywin Landing. There we all gathered again, and had a prayer circle. Pastor David kept on encouraging us to keep on that final 20 km stretch.

At 11:30 a.m., we reached the checkpoint. Already people from Keewaywin were meeting us in their vehicles. One vehicle full of people came looking for Colin, asking for prayer. Others kept encouraging us to keep on, that we were almost there. Pastors David Fiddler and Colin Kanate led the walkers into the community. When we reached the outskirts, we all parked the vehicles and walked into the community together. Before we started walking, we had another prayer circle. I believe, everybody was crying and could actually feel something.

Reaching Keewaywin, it was a sight to see. People were lining up along the road, waiting for us. There were hugs and handshakes. A couple of ladies came to help me, as I was barely walking already. There were people weeping too.

We walked into the church at exactly 12:15 p.m....we had completed our walk. Took us 27.5 hours of steady walking those 140 kms.

In spite of the cold and frigid temperatures, we made it.

We, thank you for all of your prayers and everything that was done to help us. We thank you for all the participations, donations, coffee, food, gas, encouragements we got from the people.

If I forgot something, I will add it on later.
